Roadworks are due to begin on a major roundabout in Kingswood this month, which Hull City Council says will see safety for cyclists and pedestrians improve with new crossings and cycle tracks. The £291,000 scheme is aimed at supporting the future housing development as part of the Kingswood Area Action Plan. The work begins on Monday, January 23 and will last for 12 weeks- the first three of which will see Wawne Road close to northbound traffic between Bude Road and Kesteven Way. The remainder of the work will be carried out under lane closures and temporary traffic lights, allowing traffic to travel in all directions. Residents are advised to check notices at bus stops as some services may change but bin collections will continue as normal. Read more: Cyclist left with life-threatening injuries after Kingswood crash New sections of off-road cycle track will be created at the Wawne Road / Kesteven Way roundabout, along with “parallel crossings”, which are like zebra crossings but also include a designated area to allow cyclists to cross the road. To improve traffic flow at the roundabout, Wawne Road will also be widened from one lane to three marked traffic lanes on the northbound approach.
