20mph speed limit trial in East Yorkshire town announced
Hedon has been selected for a six-month long 20mph speed limit trial. The speed limit in a number of residential areas in the East Yorkshire town will be reduced from 30mph for the trial period that is set to begin in March. 20mph zones have been popping up across the UK in recent years. In 2023, the Welsh Senedd voted to adopt 20mph as the default speed limit for roads in built up areas. Similar 20mph policies have followed in parts of England including on the Wirral where the local council's website states: “We will be looking to introduce 20mph speed limits on almost all residential roads across Wirral.”
