Some drivers have been left baffled by 40mph average speed cameras in place from South Cave to the start of the M62 with no apparent work taking place. However, Highways England says all the work is taking place overnight to install new safety barriers along the A63 which means motorist will not see a hive of activity. Steve Bishop, Highways England project manager, said: “Work is continuing overnight on installing new steel safety barriers along the A63, between junction 38 of the M62 (North Cave) and South Cave, to improve safety along this important route. “To keep traffic moving during the day, we’ll open the route in full, but speed will be limited to 40mph with cameras in place. This is to ensure the safety of everyone using the network while travelling through the roadworks. “We are working hard to keep disruption to a minimum, but I urge drivers to plan their journey in advance when the closures are in place. I want to thank drivers for their patience while we carry out this essential safety work.” For pedestrians, public rights of way crossing points on the A63 will be closed overnight Monday to Friday or when work takes place.
