While Myton Bridge has been closed, other roadworks have also been in place. Hull Live reported last week how Myton Bridge would be closed to traffic from 6am to 2pm on Sunday so maintenance work can be carried out. It is a major route into the city from the east. It has meant diversions were in place for anyone looking to come in and out of the city centre from the east. But when Hull Live checked at around 1pm on Sunday, the bridge was back open. Castle Street, however, was still busy but was moving. A spokesman for Hull City Council said: “On Sunday, from 6am to 2pm, the bridge will be closed to traffic for routine maintenance work. “The diversion route for eastbound motorists is Market Place, Drypool Bridge, Union Street, and for westbound it will be Mount Pleasant, Freetown Way and Ferensway. “Motorists are asked to be patient during this short closure.” Meanwhile, Travel system Inrix is reporting issues in Witham into Sunday afternoon. Traffic in Hull on Sunday (Image: Katie Pugh) “Queuing traffic and traffic heavier than normal on A165 Witham in both directions near Hu9 club,” it says. Due to Milward Way closure.” Many took to the Hull Traffic and Travel Facebook group to comment on the traffic situation in the city on Sunday. One wrote: “Hull will be gridlocked today with Myton Bridge closed all day, especially eastbound with Holderness Road close eastbound.” Another asked: “What's the traffic like getting out of Hull from Hedon Road area?” One replied: “Bit of mix traffic car truck vans ect.” Another posted on the group: “Myton Bridge open now, it’s 12-18.” But one said: “It's 12.35pm actually but thanks for letting me know.” According to travel system Inrix: “A165 Holderness Road outbound closed due to resurfacing work from Dansom Lane South to A1033 Mount Pleasant. Until 11th October.” It also reports: “A63 Roger Millward Way Eastbound closed due to roadworks between Market Place and A1165 Great Union Street (Roger Millward Way roundabout). From 6am until 2pm on 4th October.” One commuter reported how it was “taking an hour to get into the city centre from east Hull”. “This city is a joke,” they added.
