The A63 at Melton is to be closed overnight until May to allow for work on a cycleway and footpath close to South Hunsley School. National Highways says better journeys on foot and by bike are being created with the extension of a path alongside the eastbound carriageway of the A63. The works will improve the route for students and the community. The improvements are being made between Welton footbridge and Melton footbridge. Enabling work to prepare the site for the improvements began last night (January 30), with the main work scheduled to begin on Monday, February 6, continuing until the beginning of May. To minimise disruption for motorists, this closure will be in place from 8pm until 6am, when traffic is lightest. A National Highways spokesperson said: “The closure is needed due to there being no hard shoulder on this section of the A63.
