They are frustrating for motorists, but necessary to keep our roads up to scratch and traffic flowing freely once the work is done. There are long term roadworks ongoing in and around the city, but there are also shorter term ones planned. Here is your definitive list of all the ongoing and upcoming roadworks in the area, as announced by Hull City Council. A63 – St James Street to Market Place: Major A63 improvement scheme – full infrastructure change. Lane and road closures until completion of scheme, expected May 1, 2025. A63 Castle Street: A series of overnight closures for the A63 Castle Street scheme until January 31. Beverley Road: Gas works near Tesco and DM Keith. Lane closure in place. Also no right turn onto Mizzen Road. Until December 20. Cottingham Road: Taking cores of existing carriageway. Lane closure Cottingham Road roundabout at Fairfax Avenue, Hotham Road North and Hall Road. Until December 10. Dairycoates Avenue: Connection only due to works on Woodcock Street. Multi-way signals in place. December 2 to 13. Guildhall Road: Public realm works, including paving, surfacing, drainage, retaining walls and ducting within Queens Gardens and along Guildhall Road, Wilberforce Drive and Queens Dock Avenue. Lane closure on Guildhall Road. Until October 31, 2025. Hawthorn Avenue: Due to works on Woodcock Street. Multi-way signals in place. Until December 20. Henry Boot Way: Utility asset works. Multi-way signals in place. Until December 11. High Street: New fibre optic service connection. Road closure from North Walls to Alfred Gelder Street. Until December 20. High Street: Public realm works. Road closure in place
