Anlaby Road traffic updates as busy route closed today for weeks

One of Hull's busiest routes is closed from today, with traffic building in the area. The westbound side of Anlaby Road is closed – and will remain so until February 7 – to allow major improvement work to take place. The road is shut between Walliker Street and Melrose Street as part of the second phase of improvements. Several one-way streets have been turned two-way for the duration of the disruption but pictures taken on Monday morning show that traffic is struggling to cope on diversion routes. The work is part of a £4m project by Hull City Council to make repairs on three major routes in the city. Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for economic investment and regeneration, said the work was a response to concerns raised during regular condition surveys on the roads.
