Five people were taken to hospital when a car crashed into a crowd of spectators during a rally on Sunday afternoon. The Reed Group East Riding Stages Rally began in Beverley from the Saturday Market when 140 crews took off on the 45-mile closed road route. During the race, a car lost control and left Withernwick Road near Rise, injuring three spectators, the driver, and the navigator. Two of the spectators and the driver of the car sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries. The navigator and another spectator sustained minor injuries, but all five were taken to hospital.
