Motorists were stuck on the Humber Bridge for up to an hour earlier on today after a collision caused the closure of a slip-road onto the A63. The northbound route over the bridge experienced heavy delays as did the whole area around the Humberfields roundabout with motorists stuck in their cars on one of the hottest days of the year. The road between the Humberfields roundabout going on to the A63 westbound and from the junction for North Ferriby coming off the A63 eastbound are were closed according to the police. The issues were first reported at around 3pm this afternoon and the AA report read: “Exit ramp closed and heavy traffic due to accident on A63 Clive Sullivan Way Westbound at A15. “Congestion to St Andrews Retail Park on the A63 westbound, and along the northbound Humber Bridge.” Humberside Police tweeted at around 5pm: “Please be aware that the road is closed between the Humberfields roundabout and going onto the A63 westbound and from the junction for North Ferriby coming off the A63 eastbound due to a road traffic collision. “Please avoid the area where possible.” Police confirmed that the junction had reopened at around 6.15pm this evening and traffic and congestion in the area began to ease immediately.
