One person has been taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a cyclist in Cottingham after local reports that 'a child had been knocked down' on a major route in the village. Yorkshire Ambulance Service were called to the scene of a road traffic collision on Harland Way at 3.13pm this afternoon (January 13). The road was closed in both direction by Humberside Police while the incident was investigated and there were large tailbacks in the area. The ambulance left the scene shortly after 4pm and the road was fully re-opened by 4.45pm. There were queues in Harland Way, Cottingham after the crash The collision was reported to Yorkshire Ambulance Service shortly after 3pm. It occurred on Harland Way just a short distance from Cottingham High School and Sixth Form College. Local reports suggested that “a child had been knocked over” on the road “near the school”. Motorists in the area experienced tailbacks as the road was closed in both directions while ambulance crews worked on a single casualty.
