Many people across the UK are about to be hit with a major tax hike from April as fuel rules are set to change ending some uses of rebated diesel. Rebated diesel, known commonly as red diesel, contains red dye and chemical markers that indicate it is rebated and is subject to less fuel duty than normal, or white, road fuel diesel. The rules are changing which means diesel and rebated biofuels will no longer be allowed to be used as they are currently from April 1 this year, Glasgow Live reports. The changes mean it will no longer be legal to use red diesel for non-road mobile machinery such as bulldozers and cranes or to power mobile generators on construction sites.
