Motorists in Hull and East Yorkshire can be paying at least 10p per litre more for fuel than in some areas of the UK, a new interactive search tool shows. The cheapest petrol in East Yorkshire is currently available at Sainsbury's in Hessle, according to a list of prices published by fuel companies, with unleaded at 150.9p and diesel at 154.9p. The average price for standard petrol is 154.3p while for diesel it’s 157.9p, according to the latest figures. However, in some parts of the country, fuel can be up to 10p cheaper than in Hull. According to the data, which is supplied by retailers, the cheapest petrol in England was at a Tesco petrol station at Penwortham in South Ribble, Lancs, where it costs just 140.9p per litre of petrol. The Government’s competition watchdog has called on fuel companies to publish up-to-date prices charged at the pumps across the country to ensure a fair deal for consumers.
