A Hull road junction has become a hotspot for near misses, according to several angry motorists. The adjacent lanes leading up to the Derringham Street junction outside of The Polar Bear both have turn left arrows painted on them – causing significant confusion. Drivers regularly enter the junction in the turn left lane for Spring Bank west, but then pull into the second lane for Princess Avenue once past the junction. A woman from Hull said: “They need more signs on the side of the road. “Everyone just goes in the left lane, so then they cut into your lane and you're nearly crashing into them. They know what they're doing and bib them they don't retaliate. “Yesterday, I was in the right lane and I went to pull out. But, then a car in the Spring Bank lane pulled out on me, but I couldn't have moved across because I would have been blocking the lane going in the opposite direction. Both lanes on the street have a turn left arrow painted on them, but there are no signs to direct drivers as to which lane should be used for Spring Bank and Princess Avenue (Image: Katie Pugh) “I sounded my horn at him and he just carried on. It's just really annoying, there's going to be loads more accidents if nothing gets done. “When you're in tailbacks at teatime rush hour you can still see people doing it while you're driving down the road.” Another woman also suggested that bollards could be used to separate the two lanes to avoid drivers being cut up on the road. “If those poles were in the centre of the road, it wont be as easy for people to cut across lanes,” she added.
