A worried fisherman who said he saw mud falling off the back of a tractor's trailer on a busy A-road out of Hull has called the driver “irresponsible”. Winston Smith, from Hull, said he had been driving up the A165 to visit his fishing boat in Whitby, the “T Knight”, which he uses to fish for shellfish that he then sells at markets in Hull. As he passed between Coniston and Skirlaugh, at around 10.45am on Tuesday, December 1, he said he saw a tractor towing an open-backed trailer containing a large amount of mud, some of which was falling on to the road.
