Driver’s car ended up with just three wheels after leading police pursuit in east Hull

A driver lead police on a dangerous car chase through east Hull despite his car ending up with just three wheels. The attention of police was drawn to John Procter’s grey Renault Megane while they travelled along Free Town Way on October 10 last year. Police were concerned by the Procter’s driving and attempted to deploy a stinger. However, Procter, 41, drove off at speed towards Bilton along Holderness Road. Police put on the blue lights and sirens but that did not deter Procter. Officers noticed the engine sounded like the car was damaged. But Procter drove at excessive speeds along Holderness Road. A short time later a tyre came loose and flew off but Procter continued and went through red lights. He turned into Maybury Road and as he did so he skidded and almost hit some railings. He was clocked driving at 60mph in a 30mph zone. It was only when Procter, of Portobello Street in east Hull, turned right that his car failing gave in and broke down. Even then, he got out and tried to run away but was apprehended by officers.
