Drivers and bus passengers have been caught up in gridlocked traffic after a crash blocked a major Hull road. A lorry and car have been involved in a crash, according to traffic management system Inrix, which has partially blocked the southbound side of Great Union Street on the A63 Roger Millward Way. The road is congested with traffic backing up to Marfleet Roundabout on the A1033 and Mount Pleasant on the roundabout. As a result, the eastern side of the roundabout is inaccessible and traffic heading westbound must go back to Hedon Road roundabout to turn around. The traffic is backed up for more than four miles to the BP garage in Hedon Road, with drivers trapped in their cars and “chaos” being caused due to traffic lights also being out. There is congestion as far back to Salt End flyover. The congestion is having a knock on effect on other roads around the city centre, including Holderness Road and Newland Avenue.
