Eight weeks of A63 Castle Street closures planned as project…
Up to eight weeks of overnight closures are needed on the A63 Castle Street Hull as the £355m upgrade project reaches a major milestone. Significant progress has been made on the new underpass structure at the Mytongate junction which has now been fully excavated. National Highways says the next challenge will be to lay the concrete slap that will form the base of the underpass. The upcoming phases of work will require closures from Daltry Street to Roger Millward Way starting this month which are scheduled to continue until the end of January, with a break over the Christmas and New Year period. It will be carried out overnight to limit disruption, starting on Monday, November 18, with some of the work requiring a crane to be positioned on the main road. A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A15, A164, A1079 and A1033 for eastbound traffic, and vice versa for westbound. It comes after the completion of work at Market Place to rebuild slip roads at both sides of the junction at Queen Street and Market Place, and create a central island. Work on the A63 Castle Street project began almost five years ago in early 2020 with completion expected in 2025.
