Extended operating times for Hull’s bus lanes are speeding up journeys into the city and helping people to avoid the frustration of sitting in traffic queues. Local bus operator Stagecoach East Midlands says travelling times into Hull have become nine per cent quicker since Hull City Council expanded bus lane times to almost 12 hours between 7am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Banning cars and other traffic from the bus lanes all day, allowing buses to run freely in dedicated lanes along all of Hull’s key arterial roads into the city centre, has created a much more efficient mode of travel around the city when using public transport, according to Stagecoach.
