Final stage of £1.2m road improvement scheme to begin

The final stage of a road and footpath improvement scheme in East Yorkshire is due to begin next month. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £400,000 to upgrade the road surface along West Green, between Canal Lane and Railway Street, in Pocklington, over the school holidays. The scheme follows major work already carried out in Market Place, Market Square, Union Street and Railway Street. The final phase of works is due to begin on Monday, July 21, with work being carried out on weekdays from 9am to 5pm. It is expected to last five weeks, weather permitting. A schedule of the works has been released by the council and is as follows: Monday July 21 to Friday 1 August – Footpath repairs and kerb renewals will be carried out and temporary two-way traffic lights will be in place. This will be in preparation for slurry surfacing later in the year to seal some parts of the path. Monday 4 to Friday 22 August – Road resurfacing and drainage works are due to take place under a temporary road closure during the daytime, from 9am-5pm. The road will reopen at the end of each day.
