Free events to prevent child car seat errors in Hull

A series of events are set to begin in Hull designed to prevent life-threatening installation errors of child car seats, as well as giving parents and carers added peace of mind. Hull City Council has teamed up with Safer Roads Humber and child safety experts Good Egg Safety CIC to deliver the free events which start this month. Across the seven events, experts will be able to check and issue advice to ensure car seats are correctly installed and compatible with the vehicle and the child. Following last year’s events, data revealed that more than half (59%) of the 259 child seats checked in Hull between May 2024 and March 2025 by Good Egg Safety, were incorrectly fitted, according to Hull City Council. Over one quarter (25%) had major errors or were incompatible with the vehicle or child, which could result in serious harm in a collision. Councillor Mark Ieronimo, portfolio holder for transportation, roads, and highways at Hull City Council said: “Our commitment to child safety remains a priority. By providing these free child seat checks, we aim to empower parents and carers with the knowledge needed to protect young passengers. “Together with Safer Roads Humber and Good Egg Safety, we hope to reduce the risk of avoidable injuries and promote safer travel for our youngest residents.” Good Egg Safety, an internationally awarded, non-profit organisation, funded by Government and local authorities, is a specialist in child passenger safety.
