From checking them to how long they stay – everything you need to know about penalty points
Motorists are returning to the roads following lockdown which can mean busier travel networks and the possibility of a penalty points hike. The risk of running up penalty points for crimes such as speeding and other offences is far greater now millions are hitting the roads for their summer staycation. And with the school holidays well and truly underway, motorways and A-roads up and down the country are expected to be rammed. Drivers on the road will also increase due to those being able to finally sit and pass their tests, following a backlog of cancellations as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. With life returning to normal, and 38.8 million vehicles licensed for use on UK roads – there are, unfortunately, more opportunities to gain penalty points than in the past year spent at home in a pandemic.
