Further misery for motorists as Beverley Road works in Hull…
Motorists and businesses on Hull’s Beverley Road face a further three months of headaches after it was revealed there are delays to building work in the area. Major regeneration works to the previously dangerous and unstable Brunswick Arcade have been ongoing since October 2021. Demolition work was completed in spring last year and the reconstruction work was due to be completed during the winter. But Hull City Council confirmed there has been a delay due to work ceasing for a period last year to avoid major congestion when utility companies went to dig up the road further up. Now, the council have admitted there will be a further delay and the work will not be completed until the summer. A Hull City Council spokesman said: “Following the demolition of the building, unfortunately delays were experienced due to the national supply chain and manufacture issues of additional steel, which is required to support the amended design of the new structure.” The work on Beverley Road has been carried out in a bid to bring the Brunswick Arcade back into full economic use. The scheme will create new residential accommodation over ground-floor retail units and will deliver a new frontage that is in keeping with the local Conservation Area. The works, which will contribute significantly towards the regeneration of the historic Beverley Road area, will replicate the original arcade through use of traditional materials, and will work to reflect the grand scale of the original design.
