Customers at a Hull retail park have been warned about parking fines after several shoppers were charged upwards of £70 for breaching “unfair” rules. The rules of the Mount Pleasant car park, operated by Parkingeye, state that customers can stay for up to three hours, with no return within one hour which they say is “to prevent long-stay parking abuse”. However, one man was recently charged £70 for returning 57 minutes after his visit to the Asda at the retail park to use the neighbouring KFC drive thru, sparking a heated debate between other road users. One woman said that she had recently received a similar fine when she was shopping at Asda, claiming that she was sent a charge for breaking the car park’s ‘one hour no return’ rule when she had to go home to collect money to pay for her shopping. Shoppers are now calling for more lenient rules to avoid these kinds of “unfair” fines. Won’t be shopping at any of these stores anymore until they get rid of this scam company.” David had returned to use the KFC drive thru Chrissie had a similar experience, commenting: “My dad just got stung with this. He went to Asda and when he got home realised he needed to return something to Asda and then got one of these through the post. And Asda claim they can’t do anything as it’s not their car park.” Janet had also been stung by a fine: “I’ve just received one too, Mount Pleasant again! Did some shopping and left, realised I’d forgotten something went back.
