‘Gridlock’ as North Bridge over River Hull closed due to…
North Bridge in central Hull was closed by Humberside Police and the Coastguard during the morning rush hour today. Commuters reported “gridlock” on the busy route between Witham and Freetown Way, after a number of police cars were seen blocking the entrance to the North Bridge. The Coastguard are also in attendance, though the nature of the incident was not immediately clear. Witnesses have urged motorists to avoid the area, with one claiming that the closure had caused “gridlock”. She said: “The bridge has been shut, it's causing gridlock down Holderness Road in both directions.
