About the role: Reporting to Head of Compliance & Airside Operations, this critical role will be the nominated Safety Manager under EASA ADR (European Aviation Safety Agency). To ensure the Airport complies with H&S legislation and best practice, promoting a safe working culture across the business. To maintain effective Safety Management Systems (SMS) to ensure compliance with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Health & Safety Executive (HSE) and Aviation Security Compliance. To drive forward the risk and safety management operational plan, setting long and short-term objectives, including Safety Performance Indicators and KPIs. On behalf of the Accountable Manager create and maintain an effective risk register, risk assessments and operational impact assessments. To develop, implement and monitor the airport’s aviation security quality manual and carry out regular audits and agree on any action plans. To advise management and colleagues on Health and Safety, Compliance and staff wellbeing. To facilitate hazard identification, risk analysis and management of the operation through effective SMS, and audit management. To manage the safety reporting system (SARMs) and provide periodic reports on safety performance for trends and analysis. Develop and deliver internal Health & Safety training. To lead accident/incident and near-miss investigations, review any trends and agree on action plans as required. Prepare and submit documentation for incidents reportable under R.I.D.D.O.R. and to be the nominated lead with the insurers. Conduct and carry out internal and external (3rd Party) compliance audits and regular workplace inspections in line with the Airports Health and Safety Action Plan To chair, organise and attend various regular meetings as listed within the Aerodrome Manual. The Person Holds NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent) or working towards. Proven competency gained within a similar environment and strong knowledge of health and safety, policy and practice. You will have a positive, organised and resilient approach. Be a confident communicator, with the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders. Able to interpret data and report collation, so strong attention to details and IT skills are essential. Sound judgement and ability to evaluate options to make appropriate recommendations. Tact, diplomacy and influencing skills. Forward-thinking approach to bring new ideas to fruition. Experience in the aviation industry would be also desirable.
