A driver has sparked a heated debate about using Hull's bus lanes, after sharing a picture showing queuing traffic on a Sunday, alongside an empty bus lane in Spring Bank. The bemused motorist pointed out that bus lanes do not operate on Sundays, meaning drivers are free to use them at any time of the day. The lanes are restricted between 7am-6.30pm Monday to Saturday. But others argued that using the lane in question would prove to be a false economy, as motorists would have to rejoin queueing traffic further up the road. The debate has been sparked by the heavy weekend traffic caused by the closure of Myton Bridge, on the A63, for essential repairs. And it comes as Hull City Council lays the groundwork for a return to peak-time only bus lanes. Hull drivers are 95 per cent brain dead, I swear. No wonder [there's] so much traffic. You are the traffic!” Samantha responded: “Left-turn only due to the cycle lane, so no they aren’t brain dead.” Attila replied: “Actually you zip merge at the end. The lane going straight is right in the middle of those two lanes.”
