The 40mph speed limits which has been in force along much of the A63 will finally be lifted this weekend. Average speed cameras were installed in August last year to increase safety on the stretch between North Ferriby and Hull city centre while new barriers and street lights are fixed into place. The new speed limit left many drivers frustrated at the prospect of delays heading to and from the city from the west although some drivers have found the limit beneficial. While it looked as if progress has been slow, Highways England says the work has been carried out as planned and confirmed the speed limit will be lifted. A spokesman said: “The new central reservation concrete safety barrier on the A63 has now been fully installed and the 40mph speed limit will be removed this weekend.
