Potential changes to the operating hours of Hull’s bus lanes might not happen until early next year. The city council’s Liberal Democrat leaders say they want to scrap the existing all-day enforcement regime brought in by the previous Labour administration and revert back to peak time only hours. The current 7am to 6.30pm enforcement period runs Monday to Saturday. During these hours, only buses, cyclists, taxis and emergency vehicles can use the lanes while other motorists risk a £60 fine if they are caught on camera using them. It was made permanent in late 2021. Now a timeline has been mapped out for a possible change back to the peak hour system. It will involve a statutory eight-week public consultation covering proposed amendments to nine different routes where the bus lanes currently operate.
