Two flood warnings are in place for Cottingham today (Sunday), while there are reports that the A1079 Beverley Road remains closed due to flooding in the Dunswell area. Travel service Inrix said the road is closed between Raich Carter Way (Dunswell roundabout) and the York Road (Killingwoldgraves roundabout) at Bishop Burton. Yesterday, police urged motorists to avoid the area due to an “ongoing incident”. The B1230 Hunsley Road, Walkington, is also closed due to flooding between Bentley Lane to Townend Road. Roads around Shiptonthorpe. near Market Weighton, are also said to be impassable. Flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, are in place for the Setting Dyke area, around Priory Road, Hull. A wider alert is in place for the lower River Hull, including the city itself, Bransholme and surrounding villages. Flooding is also possible along the Humber estuary, from Hessle Haven to Faxfleet, and on the North Sea coast, in Hornsea and in Kilnsea. Any heavy rain is likely to die out this morning (Sunday) and conditions should be drier, though with a risk of showers) for the rest of today and much of Monday. The post reads: “Road between Waxholme and Roos. Have reported to 101. Very deep, stay safe guys, avoid if possible.” Share 11:32 Paul Johnson Flooding at holiday park We've been sent these pictures of flooding at the Withernsea Sands holiday park. One holidaymaker said that they were having to pack up and go home. A statement from the park, which is run by Parkdean Resorts, said: “We are aware of the on-park flooding, which was a result of extreme rainfall last night. Withernsea and surrounding areas also have been affected on roadways and neighbourhoods. “Our team are on park ensuring the safety of all owners, guests and property. Yorkshire Water has been called out as a priority site visit. Staff are on stand by to assist with any issues, concerns or queries. We are confident that all areas of flooding (mainly Maple Grove and Rowan Grove) will subside in the next few hours. The Highways England agency said the road had been closed between the Humber Bridge and A1034 junctions. Emergency services had attended the scene. The road reopened at around 5am. Share 08:12 Paul Johnson Chanterlands Avenue clear The railway bridge beneath Chanterlands Avenue, usually a marker of how bad local flooding might get, is clear. However, the raised footpath beside the road is flooded, with water bubbling up from a drain. Further along the line of the old Setting Dyke, a flood alert is in place for the Priory Road area.
