Motorists flooded social media with gripes and complaints this weekend after the closure of Myton Bridge led to long delays in Hull city centre. Traffic ground to a halt along the city’s main thoroughfares after the A63 crossing was closed for major refurbishment work. And the bad news is that motorists are going to have to put up with the delays for a further five weekends. However, one driver has pointed out an obvious way to avoid the tailbacks – on Sundays at least – but one that a lot of motorists seem to forget. Posting on Hull Live’s Traffic and Travel Facebook page, Chris Wool’o said: “Why are people still so scared to use bus lanes out of hours? The town’s rammed and I’ve passed about 30 cars while you’re all sat there.” Currently, the bus lanes are closed to general motorists between 7am-6.30pm, Monday to Saturday, when only only buses, motorcycles, emergency vehicles, cyclist and taxis can use them.
