Hull drivers could face fines crackdown under new powers
Motorists who commit road offences could face being fined by Hull City Council – if the authority decides to take up new powers. At present, most violations can only be enforced by Humberside Police. But senior councillors are due to decide whether they should apply for powers to enforce “moving traffic offences”. Such offences include stopping in a yellow box and driving the wrong way down a one-way street. Councillors believe more enforcement would improve road safety, tackle congestion and shorten bus journeys.
