Regular drivers in Hull might not be surprised to hear that the city has been found to be in the top 10 most congested in the UK Overall, data collated by traffic analysts Inrix showed that Hull drivers are spending the eighth most time caught in traffic in the country. It also ranks as the 59th most congested in the entire world. This means that motorists in Hull lost 68 hours to congestion in 2022. Drivers also lost an average of £500 each as a result of the long hours spent in traffic according to the INRIX 2022 Traffic Scorecard Report. Nationally, it went up two spots from 10th in 2021. Inrix also showed that the average speed of cars during peak hours is just 18 mph and during off-peak hours it is 27 mph. As it stands with its 59th place global ranking, Hull now has worse congestion than major cities like Lisbon, Melbourne, Leeds, Milan and Hamburg.
