A Hull mum whose son was run over is frustrated at drivers regularly speeding on a residential road and believes not enough is being done about it. Nicola Doris Flange lives on Bilsdale Grove where she says she often witnesses drivers disobeying the speed limit of 20mph – sometimes up to 40mph. It’s an issue particularly close to her heart after her son, Achilles, was run over on Bilsdale Grove in 2017 when he was seven-years-old. Hull City Council has since put speed bumps on the road but Nicola doesn’t think this has been effective. She also claims that nobody has monitored the effectiveness of them. I was laid with him in the middle of the road and I thought that was it. “Luckily, he survived but the injuries will be with him for a lifetime. He has extensive scarring and other problems. “He still has nightmares about it and he still has pain. I don’t want anyone to go through what we’ve been through. “The council has put speed bumps in but they don’t do anything. Nobody has monitored if it’s working.” Posting in Hull Live’s Traffic and Travel group in Facebook, Nicola added: “Fed up to the back teeth of drivers not being able to follow the 20mph speed limit down Bilsdale Grove.
