Hull named as one of the UK’s pothole capitals
New research has revealed the top ten pothole capitals of the UK – and Hull features in the list. According to the study, our city is the fifth worst location for potholes in the country, with a total of 5,913 of the road craters recorded in 2022. Overall, it means there are an average of 12.27 potholes per mile in Hull. Motoring experts at Bill Plant Driving School submitted Freedom of Information requests to all local authorities in England and Wales, asking for the total number of potholes reported in 2022, as well as the number of potholes repaired by the council. There were over 12 potholes reported per mile in 2022. “This is a result of almost 6,000 reported potholes on the 482 miles of road. Just like in Southampton, more potholes were repaired than reported in 2022 in Hull, meaning that there must have been older potholes in the city.” The study comes after motorists in Hull recently report
