A Hull resident claims her elderly neighbours face a one-mile walk to a bus stop as a result of upcoming roadworks. The woman, aged 53, says the eight-week closure of Priory Road, between Hotham Road South and Country Road South, will mean other residents are left “housebound”. I have just heard that our bus service is going to be diverted for eight weeks,” she said. “This will mean a walk of at least a mile to access an available bus stop. Many of my neighbours, who rely on public transport, will be unable to make this journey. “I feel the needs of my neighbours has not been considered in the decision to close the road completely for such a long period of time.” The woman told Hull Live it is a “ridiculous” situation, but Hull City Council says the works are “essential” and that they will be completed as quickly as possible. “Most of my neighbours are in their eighties. It means they are going to be housebound for eight weeks,” she said. “They have closed some of the road completely, whereas previously when they have done roadworks, they've closed one lane and you still had an option of getting up the road.
