Frustrated drivers in Hull are experiencing “traffic chaos” with severe gridlock in several areas around the city. One driver says she got stuck in Newland Avenue under the railway bridge for more than ten minutes in standstill traffic and turned off to get on to Beverley Road, where she also described the traffic as “madness”. Another driver says that it has taken him more than 45 minutes in queuing traffic to get from Stoneferry Roundabout to Spiders nightclub. Those using the buses are also being affected by unexplained traffic, with delays of up to an hour. Stagecoach tweeted: “Due to severe gridlock along Cleveland St, Garden Village, Holderness Rd & North Bridge areas we are seeing heavy delays of up to 60 mins across our network, this is having a knock on effect to all city services, the cause is unknown, we are doing our best!” Follow our live blog below for the latest updates.
