A Hull woman was left shocked when she paid more than £20 for a taxi from Hull city centre to Bransholme. The taxi, which was caught from the rank outside The Empress pub on Alfred Gelder Street, cost the woman £22 – substantially more than the £15 she is used to paying for the same journey, despite there being no hold-ups. The incident has raised questions over the pricing structures and general issues with Hull’s taxi provision. In a post on the Hull Traffic & Travel Facebook page, Anneliese posted: “I know we have inflation at the moment, but I was charged £22 in a taxi from Alfred Gelder Street to Pennine Way, North Bransholme yesterday and yes he was registered. The taxi rank opposite The Empress pub Mike said: “How many people, did you have in the cab was there luggage etc. Was it a straight drive, did you go somewhere on the way, drop or pick some one up or ask to go a specific way. What time of day was it and was the traffic bad?
