Assessments are set to take place on a key historic bridge over the River Hull to see if any strengthening works are needed to avoid having to close it. Hull City Council has awarded a contract for assessments on Hull's North Bridge, which crosses the River Hull at the A165 Witham. A council decision record stated assessments were needed to check if there are any structural weaknesses that require further works. Council Transport Portfolio Holder Cllr Mark Ieronimo said the assessments would help officials know if any further repairs are needed. It comes as the decision record stated it was likely the bridge would have to be closed until a contractor could be sought for a full refurbishment.
