Humberside Police is being investigated for its handling of the tragic A180 crash, due to the force receiving ‘several calls’ about the broken-down car prior to the crash. A Scunthorpe mum and toddler sadly lost their lives, after a white articulated lorry collided with their car on Friday evening (March 10). It is believed Nicola Courtney, 34, and her son Lucas Page, 3, broke down in a live line prior to the crash. A witness told our sister site Grimsby Live that she had to “swerve out of the way”, when she came across the blue Ford Focus and pulled into a layby to call the police at 8.45pm. The fatal collision happened at 9.06pm, before emergency services arrived at the scene, and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has confirmed that several other reports were made to Humberside Police before the crash.
