New 'bike ports' have been installed in Hull city centre as part of a revamp to fix damage following the disorder in early August. Hull City Council says it has taken the opportunity to enhance cycle parking on Jameson Street as part of efforts to promote more sustainable and active forms of transport in an area popular with shoppers and cyclists. Each of the two bike ports offers secure parking for eight bicycles occupying the space of just one car. The racks, made from recyclable mild steel with a nylon powder-coated finish to prevent scratching to bikes, have been designed to protect bicycles with a secure, three-point locking system for the frame and wheels.
