Iconic Hull accent ‘rerd werks’ sign stolen for second time
A tongue-in-cheek road works sign that was designed to “put a smile on people’s faces” has been stolen. The ‘Yer Jerking Merr Rerd Werks’ sign was created by civil engineering firm M.B. Roche and has recently vanished. It was situated near Spire hospital on the B1232 Beverley Road between Hessle and Anlaby But this isn’t the first time a sign like this has disappeared in mysterious circumstances. Roche & Sons Limited, went on BBC Radio Humberside today to report the missing sign and ask for help in getting it back. In an appeal to get the sign back, he promised the returner two patty butties, one more than what was offered when the first was stolen.
