Following a successful three-month pilot scheme over Christmas, the late Saturday night bus scheme has been extended to ensure people have more ways of getting home safely around Hull – with a discounted fare. With funds from the Department for Transport to improve bus services, Hull City Council and bus operators Stagecoach and East Yorkshire Buses will continue running later services on Saturday nights until May 25, 2024. As well as the extension, the late Saturday night buses will also operate with a discounted fare of £1 per journey from April 6. It provided additional safe travel options for those in the city centre in time for the festive season. It is hoped that the extension will help promote passenger growth on the buses. Seven services will run until the early hours – Service 5 to Orchard Park – 00:12 & 01:12 Service 6 to Kingswood – 00:12 & 01:12 Service 8 to Bransholme via Holderness Road – 00:10 & 01:10 Service 13 to Bilton Grange via Greatfield – 00:10 & 01:10 Service 57 to Longhill/Bilton – 00:12 & 01:12 Service 66 to Hessle via Anlaby Road – 00:10 & 01:10 Service 104 to Cottingham via The Avenues – 00:14 & 01:14 Eastbound services will start at Hull Truck and service Alfred Gelder Street. West and northbound services will start at Alfred Gelder Street and serve Hull Truck before going out of the city centre. To ensure the safety of passengers, bus marshals will be on duty at the Hull Truck and Alfred Gelder Street stops to provide support.
