Life in the Hull street closed for roadworks that are…

These pictures show the sight residents on a Hull street are greeted with every time they look out of the window – and they will continue to be faced with for months to come. Roadworks started on a pioneering first for Hull started on Rosmead Street earlier this month. The Living With Water scheme being implemented will see permeable paving installed, made up of non-porous blocks with spaces between them to allow water to flow through. Surface water is collected underneath and the water’s flow into the sewers is then controlled to reduce the likelihood of flooding. A letter has been received from Living with Water, with their promises that seemingly are half-heartedly implemented at best. “This street has never suffered with standing water/puddles/flooding so the permeable road surface seems a pointless waste of £millions. We are massively inconvenienced, disturbed by the noise and vibrations through houses, and leaving our vehicles clearly at risk. MORE CAN BE DONE!” Residents have cited loud noise, vibrations and difficulty parking as problems with the scheme (Image: Southcoates Councillors) The roadworks are not due to be finished until the end of May, leaving many residents worried about their quality of life through
