Live Leeds Bradford Airport closed with flights grounded after drone sighting

Flights have been grounded at Leeds and Bradford Airport causing major disruption across the skies. Aeroplanes have been forced to land at Humberside Airport following a sighting of a drone close to the West Yorkshire-based airport. Other flights are being turned away and forced to land at Manchester. The 1.50pm arrival from Southampton, 2.15pm arrival from Malaga and 2.15pm arrival from Alicante are among those affected. All outgoing flights are believed to have been grounded as a result of the sighting with people taking to social media to complain about the delays. One Twitter user posted: “Stuck on a plane at Leeds Bradford Airport because there’s a drone flying nearby. All flights halted.” The drone sighting has not yet been confirmed. A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport said: “We are investigating reports of a drone over the airport. An update will be provided soon.” Further updates will be posted below.
