Live M62 closure after major overnight crash between junction 34 and junction 35 ‘involves police vehicles’

A major incident 'involving police vehicles' has led to the overnight closure of the M62. The motorway remains closed in both directions between Junction 34 with the A19 (Selby) and Junction 35 with the M18. Reports have emerged that a police vehicle involved in a pursuit has collided with a motorway bridge. The fire service, ambulance and Humberside Police are in attendance. For more Hull and East Yorkshire news, click here. The incident was reported at 11.52pm on Friday (September 3) and the road is expected to be closed until 12pm on Saturday. It has led to long delays on the M62 and a number of cars were trapped in the gridlock until 7.20am, when they were released by police. Diversions are along the A roads through Eggborough, Snaith and Rawcliffe and rejoin the M62 at Junction 36 for Goole. Highways England tweeted at 7.40am with an update which read: “#M62 Update – The eastbound closure is expected to remain in place until at least midday while @humberbeat carry out their investigation work.
