Live updates as A63 Castle Street bridge put into place

Video LoadingVideo UnavailableThe A63 has reopened after being closed for 42 hours for a new bridge to be installed. The new 150-tonne bridge was put into place on Saturday night after a complex operation requiring the closure of Castle Street. The stunning bridge, which is expected to open for use in 2020, links the city centre with Hull Marina. The closure was put in place to allow Highways England contractors to move the 150-tonne structure from the Myton retail park car park where it has been assembled over the past few months to its final destination between the southern end of Princes Dock and the Marina. Two giant remote-controlled transporters were used to carry the 60 metre-long bridge the short distance along the A63 before swinging it into position.
