A HGV fire has shut one lane of the westbound carriageway on the M62 between North Cave and Howden. The lorry caught fire this afternoon, resulting in Lane 1 of the carriageway to close. Emergency services at at the site. Humberside Police tweeted: “There is currently a lane 1 closure between junctions 37 and 38 west bound on the M62 as Emergency Services are in attendance at an incident. It was a HGV on the hard shoulder that was smoking.”It was a container full of scrap metal that had ignited. No people were injured at all. The police closed off the section to tackle the fire, and the vehicle is now being moved.
