A crash on the M180 near Scunthorpe this morning has resulted in travel delays around the wider region as drivers attempt to avoid the motorway. The westbound carriageway of the M180 has been closed since around 8am after a lorry collided with the barrier in the central reservation between Junction 5 at Barnetby Top and Junction 4 at Scawby. On Twitter, Humberside Police said: “Please avoid the M180 westbound between the Barnetby (J5) and the A15 (J4) exits. Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident.” Traffic heading from the Grimsby area and other parts of northern Lincolnshire is now diverting onto other roads to get around the closure, causing heavy traffic on the A15 approaching the Humber Bridge. Repair work is currently underway on the barrier with the M180 currently expected to reopen this afternoon.
