Live updates as ‘Mad Friday’ traffic causing mayhem in Hull city centre

The rush of “Mad Friday” is causing big traffic delays across Hull. Both local bus companies have tweeted to say they are experiencing delays of up to 30 minutes. East Yorkshire bus company says there is heavy traffic “across the network” and said services in Hull are missing the “city centre loop” in the hope of getting services back on time. East Yorkshire bus company tweeted: “We are starting to see delays of up to 30 minutes due to heavy traffic across the network. Services in Hull are missing the city centre loop to try get services back on time.” Stagecoach has also tweeted about delays. It put them down to “Mad Friday” traffic. It said shopping areas are busy and urged people to allow more time for journeys. It said: “We are seeing delays across the entire network of up to 30 mins due to ‘Mad Friday’ traffic in all areas of the city. The city centre as well as most shopping areas are very busy with additional traffic, please allow more time for your journey’s today!” Safer Roads Humber has also urged people to give themselves “plenty of time” for their journeys. It said: “It’s the festive getaway, there will be lots of traffic on the roads today so give yourself plenty of time for your journey and it’s quite wet out there so please drive to the conditions of the road.
