Initial warnings from the Met Office this morning suggested the storms would be at their worst over the western fringes of the country before dissipating over Manchester and the surrounding areas. Read more: Thunder and lightning in Hull live updates as city braced for six hour storm Easterly winds have brought the storms to our doorstep and a yellow warning has been put in place for the Humber region until 7pm tonight. The Met Office warning impact matrix rates the storms are rated as medium likelihood and low impact. For the latest Hull Live headlines direct to your inbox, click here. The region told to expect thunder and frequent lightning as well as 20-30mm of rain an hour in some places. The effects of this are already being felt in the western areas of our region. Within the warning there is also a chance of hail up to 2cm falling in some locations alongside the rain and thunder. The full warning from the Met Office reads: “Scattered thunderstorms may cause some transport disruption this afternoon. “Thunderstorms have developed across parts of the north Midlands and northern England this afternoon and are expected to continue until early evening. “Whilst some places will remain dry, a few locations are likely to see 20-30 mm of rain fall in an hour.
